Denver Broncos unveil new uniforms for 2024
Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

The Denver Broncos unveiled new uniforms on Monday ahead of the 2024 season. The new uniforms are part of the “Mile High Collection,” and they come complete with re-designed helmets as well. Denver revealed the new collection with a video on social media that included many nods to the team’s history in Colorado.

The new uniforms come in “Midnight Navy,” “Summit White,” and “Sunset Orange.” The number 5280 is featured prominently on the front of the Broncos’ new helmets. Fifteen-thousand, two-hundred and 80 is an ode to Denver’s elevation, a.k.a., the number of feet above sea level.

Even the font selected for the player names on the back of the new jerseys has been carefully thought out. According to the team, the font is cleaner with rounded interior corners, which is a nod to the national park signs found across the Rocky Mountains.

The uniforms can be mixed and matched to create nine different combinations. According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, the uniforms had a two-year design process that included input from more than 10,000 fans along with ownership and players.

The team also revealed a throwback combination that features a blue helmet with the old “D” logo. They revealed the throwbacks with a video featuring Pat Surtain and Randy Gradishar.

NFL now allowing third helmet option

The NFL is revising its uniform policy, allowing teams to have a third helmet. All 32 teams received a memo from the league this month that says teams going through a re-design process for the 2024 season have been offered a third helmet option. It will be available for all teams in 2025.

If a team wants to use a third helmet for the 2025 season, they have to inform the league no later than May 1, 2024. The second and third helmets can only be worn with the team’s authorized optimal uniforms (classic, alternate and/or color rush).

“If either alternate color helmet is paired with a Classic uniform, the helmet colors and designs must be historically compatible,” the memo states, via Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network.

The memo also states that teams must obtain a new set of alternate color helmets for all players. The helmets must be the same make, model and size as the applicable player’s primary helmet. When training camp begins, the alternate color helmets must be available to all players, and they need to be worn in practice at a minimum during the week leading up to the game in which they will be used.

In 2021, the NFL approved a change in the uniform policy, allowing alternate helmets for the 2022 season. 13 teams wore alternate helmets in 2022, and more teams added alternate looks last year.
